Kick off your evening in Mainz with a unique and intimate wine tasting experience! Join Bottlestops’ German wine expert, Jérôme, for a two-hour journey through the flavors and stories of local wines, paired with regional snacks.
Imagine this: You’re stepping into one of Mainz’s most breathtaking wine cellars, hidden deep within the historic hillside of Kästrich. These vaulted cellars, dating back over 150 years, once stored some of the city’s most prized goods—sparkling wines, still wines, and beer—all part of Mainz’s thriving trade history.
To set the scene, we begin above ground, on a scenic terrace with a stunning view over Mainz. Here, you’ll get a short introduction to the city’s rich wine heritage and its status as Germany’s Great Wine Capital. From there, we’ll head underground into our exclusive, hidden tasting room.
Your tasting kicks off with a glass of sparkling wine, crafted in the traditional method, followed by a carefully selected flight of five outstanding local wines. As you sip, you’ll uncover the essentials of the region’s wine culture, history, and geography in a relaxed and engaging way.
This isn’t just a tasting—it’s an experience. Expect great conversation, fascinating insights into German wines, and of course, delicious local snacks to complete your evening.
Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just curious to explore, this is the perfect start to your night in Mainz!
